Zaxcom is preparing to release its first-ever handheld transmitter based on the ZMT5 platform: the ZMT5-HH. This marks a significant addition to the company’s lineup of professional wireless audio solutions as their first ever handheld microphone.
Engineered for high-performance in ENG, live production, and location sound workflows, the ZMT5-HH combines Zaxcom’s robust digital wireless transmission with advanced internal recording features, delivering both reliability and flexibility in the field. The unit includes 32-bit floating point internal recording, enabling clean capture even in dynamic environments where signal levels fluctuate dramatically.
As expected from Zaxcom, the ZMT5-HH offers fully encrypted, 100% digital transmission, along with timecode-synced recording to microSD and full ZaxNet remote control. These features make it well-suited for productions that demand audio integrity, security, and efficient workflow integration.
Built-in XLR connector
As well as its primary function as a wireless transmitter, the ZMT5-HH has a neat little trick up its sleeve in the form of a hardwired XLR connector, allowing cabled connection if you want.
The handheld form factor fills an important gap in the ZMT5 ecosystem, providing users with a practical and broadcast-ready option for applications such as interviews, stage performance, and on-the-go dialogue capture.
While an exact release date has not yet been confirmed, Zaxcom has indicated that availability is imminent. Industry professionals are already expressing strong interest, particularly those looking for a self-contained handheld mic that doesn’t compromise on sound quality or system integration.
As the ZMT5-HH prepares to hit the market, it represents yet another example of Zaxcom’s continued push to innovate in the professional audio space.
