Unlike typical supercardioids, it minimizes the rear lobe, avoiding frequency-dependent peaks and dips for a more natural, isolated sound. Its smooth off-axis response maintains sonic integrity, making it an excellent choice for interviews, dialogue capture, and precision spot miking in orchestral settings.
Part of DPA’s modular d:dicate™ series, the 4018ER/ES can be reconfigured easily with other DPA capsules and preamps—no tools required.
