Uniform supercardioid directionality
The DPA Microphones 2028 has a supercardioid capsule with DPA’s famously flat off-axis response. Besides a high gain-before-feedback, this characteristic makes it easier for sound engineers to handle bleed from other instruments at close proximity. The 2028 picks up off-axis sounds in a very natural and attenuated way.
Extreme SPL handling
The 2028 has a dynamic range of 117 dB so the mic easily picks up the peaks – due to the fast transient response of the diaphragm. This makes it easier to place the mic in the mix. In fact, the 2028 can handle the extreme SPL of the most dynamic singer, but with its low self-noise, it also sounds great in the hands of softer singers as well.
